The strength of Surfrider Foundation worldwide lies in the dedication of a very large group of volunteers. This group is of unprecedented value and is committed to a better future for our seas and oceans. Surfrider is one big worldwide family. Together we ensure the implementation of campaigns and the setting up of projects for a better future. In the Netherlands we have a growing volunteer pool. Our board members work on 100% volunteer basis as well. In Europe, 29 local chapters are active in nine different countries, one of which is the Netherlands. Do you want to become part of our family? Secretary
Cigarette Butts Campaign Manager
As secretary it is your job to ensure that our foundation is well organized. You take minutes of the meetings, make sure everyone is aware of upcoming meetings and events and help organize events such as our Christmas dinner and other fun activities. And as secretary you are of course part of our board. This means that you and the other board members are also responsible for the strategy and well-being of the foundation. While your duties will mainly include administrative tasks, we would also love it if you were involved in our campaigns and events, but this is optional.
What we ask of you
You love being in the sea or on the beach and you want to protect what you love. You speak Dutch and English. You have a few hours a week to perform your tasks on a voluntary basis. You have basic knowledge of what the role of secretary entails. Any kind of surfing and your love for the ocean is of course a big plus.
What we offer
A very enthusiastic team of game changers from different backgrounds and nationalities who work together to protect the ocean, the beach and surf spots. You get free meals and drinks during events, reimbursed travel expenses and cool Surfrider merchandise. Furthermore, you are invited to our annual Surfrider Christmas dinner, cool team socials and the occasional fully paid trip to the Chapter Days (Surfrider HQ) / occasional other (surfing) destinations. You will also become part of the international organization of the Surfrider Foundation.
