The strength of Surfrider Foundation worldwide lies in the dedication of a very large group of volunteers. This group is of unprecedented value and is committed to a better future for our seas and oceans. Surfrider is one big worldwide family. Together we ensure the implementation of campaigns and the setting up of projects for a better future. In the Netherlands we have a growing volunteer pool. Our board members work on 100% volunteer basis as well. In Europe, 29 local chapters are active in nine different countries, one of which is the Netherlands. Do you want to become part of our family? Ever since I was a child I have loved water, especially the sea! I want to share, protect and cherish the pleasure I get from the sea. But this does not only apply to the sea, all life on earth deserves a nice and safe place. This idea is reflected in my work, my social life and all other aspects. I love water sports, but surfing in particular gives me so much! It calms me down when my head overflows, takes care of me when I'm sad, but above all, nothing makes me as happy and joyful as a good surf session with friends. I wish everyone this feeling!

For the past six years I have been committed and I help where I can to keep nature clean and in particular the ocean! I have practiced all kinds of water sports and I still do (kite) surfing and sailing. I love the waves, the wind and I love to 'play' with the elements of nature. I forget everything around me and am completely absorbed! The ocean has given me a lot, every day, so I am happy to make an effort to give something back. This can be done here by combining my education / work (in Finance) with the treasurer. It's a beautiful world we live in, most worth it, let's protect it!

As volunteers and event manager of Surfrider Foundation Holland Coast, my goal is to protect our beautiful coast and the North Sea by inspiring and involving as many people as possible in caring for our North Sea.
My love for the ocean started when my father took me fishing as a boy. He taught me: "Leave it as you would like to find it". As a surfer I have spent many beautiful hours in the ocean and on the coast. She gives us life, love and beauty! It's time to give back!

I prefer to walk hand in hand with my camera. Telling stories and changing lives by shooting the right images is what I live for. I am responsible for all content at Surfrider. In addition to photographing and filming, I can be found in the water a lot. Mainly on my surfboard, but sometimes also with my camera. Lying in the water with pieces of plastic floating around you shocks me time and time again. That is why I am affiliated with Surfrider the Netherlands. Together we will do everything we can to protect our playground!

I inherited a love for the sea from my childhood, but surfing only started around the age of 20. When I started the master visual ethnography 5 years later, my passion for film and love for the sea gradually came together. Nowadays I prefer to make images of, in and on the ocean. At surfrider, protecting the sea comes first, that's why I joined as a volunteer and make the posts for the surfrider Facebook page. The more people know how they can contribute to a healthy ocean, the better this is for the earth and the environment!
